About
Clear Design Journal is about reading digital interfaces with care. We look at the choices that help people understand what a website offers, where to go and what will happen when they act.
What we cover
Our subjects include interface language, page structure, navigation, feedback and recurring design conventions. We focus on ordinary encounters with websites and digital tools: finding a page, interpreting a label, completing a familiar task or working out whether an action succeeded.
Who it is for
The journal is for curious readers, people who make or maintain digital experiences, and anyone who has wondered why one screen feels clear while another feels needlessly puzzling. You do not need design training to follow along; we explain terms when they matter and keep examples grounded in recognisable situations.
How we look
We start with a specific choice and ask what it communicates, what expectation it creates and who might read it differently. We distinguish observation from recommendation, avoid treating one convention as a universal rule, and favour changes readers can understand without specialist equipment or access.
Clarity is a design choice
A screen can look polished and still leave people guessing. We pay attention to the words, structures and signals that make digital experiences easier to read.
